The Vermilion Bird of the South
In traditional Chinese culture, the Vermilion Bird is one of the Four Celestial Symbols. Its form is traced through the southern constellations, and it is revered as the guardian of the South, associated with fire and the height of summer.
Light, passion, renewal, prosperity and enduring life are at the heart of its symbolism. This bracelet draws on that imagery through the ember-like tones of Indian red agate, the deep wine-red of garnet and the soft luminosity of white mother of pearl. Natural bands and contrasting textures give each element its own presence, brought together by quiet gold-tone accents.
For kinda direction, the Vermilion Bird is a reminder to meet new beginnings with warmth and conviction: to carry your light forward, make room for growth and find a direction of your own.
Warm Indian red agate, deep red garnet and luminous white mother of pearl come together in this red agate and garnet bracelet, inspired by the Vermilion Bird of the South. Banded stones and gold-tone details bring contrast to a design centred on 8 mm beads.
